Lorenzo Williams Jr was raised in Killeen Texas and attended Rice University in Houston Texas where he met his wife Morgan Williams. Upon graduation, Lorenzo decided to pursue his professional basketball career by playing in the NBA D-League in California. After spending a short season there, Lorenzo ventured on to play professionally in Europe & continues to play in different countries. Lorenzo and his wife currently reside in Houston, Texas. Morgan Williams organizes & runs the scholarship fund. 

 

In 2013, the Williams couple launched their charity initiative as the "Lorenzo Williams Jr Oustanding Student Athlete Scholarship". This scholarship is awarded to high school students, male or female, currently playing on a Texas AAU team, & are successful on and off the court.

 

Students are encouraged to apply for this scholarship if they are interested in having their AAU season paid for.

To participate in AAU programs across the state, fees out of pocket range from $400-$1,000. If a family of a talented student are unable to afford these costs, this scholarship can be of great assistant. 

 

The committee of scholarship reviews is made up of both Lorenzo & Morgan, as well as a panel of 3 other members.

 

The scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a high grade point average at their high school, proof of financial need, success on the basketball court, as well as strong moral character.

 

This scholarship was formed due to Lorenzo's desire to give back to the young student athletes of Texas, where he also was a member of AAU and attributes much of his professional career to these programs & his 4 year scholarship to Rice University. Lorenzo Graduated Rice University with a bachelors degree in 2007 & has been playing professional basketball overseas in Europe ever since.

 

Lorenzo spends his off seasons training in Houston Texas and working with childrens basketball camps & AAU programs. Lorenzo & Morgan are very active in the health & fitness community and enjoy traveling & visiting with friends & family. They feel very blessed & grateful to God for His continued love & blessings.
